Sherpa.ai, an AI company specializing in privacy-preserving artificial intelligence for enterprises and governments, has raised $18 million in a funding round led by existing and new investors, including Forgepoint Capital. The investment will accelerate development of its secure AI platform, expand enterprise capabilities, and support growth across regulated industries.
Expanding Secure AI Infrastructure
Sherpa.ai develops AI infrastructure that allows organizations to train, deploy, and operate models collaboratively without exposing sensitive data. The platform is designed for sectors such as healthcare, finance, cybersecurity, manufacturing, and government, where privacy, security, and data sovereignty are critical.
“This round allows us to accelerate our vision: to develop and commercialise a secure and scalable artificial intelligence platform that enables companies and governments to harness the full potential of AI without giving up control, privacy and sovereignty over their data,” said Xabi Uribe-Etxebarria, founder and CEO of Sherpa.ai.
Growing Enterprise Adoption
The funding follows a period of commercial expansion, with Sherpa.ai securing customers including Indra, the U.S. National Institutes of Health, Centogene Genomics, Caja Laboral, Unicaja, and Prosegur. The company has also continued publishing research on federated learning, privacy-preserving AI, distributed large language model training, and communication-efficient AI techniques.
Supporting Sovereign AI
The new capital will be used to enhance Sherpa.ai’s platform with additional features for enterprise and public-sector customers. The company aims to help organizations collaborate on AI development while maintaining full control over sensitive data, supporting the growing demand for sovereign and privacy-focused AI solutions.
