Three Promising Venture Capital Investment Areas in 2025

In venture capital investment, the winner is not the one who has invested the most money, but the one who has invested it in potentially interesting areas. In my personal opinion, in 2025, these are robotics, digital health (with AI personalisation), and the use of AI in software. Let me tell you why.

When we say ‘robots’, do we think of Boston Dynamics? Or do we think of the innovative logistics terminals of the national postal operator? Industrial automation is a thing of the past. In recent years, modern robots have learnt, among other things

  • solve high-precision agricultural tasks, for example, by optimising planting and harvesting (Verdant Robotics);
  • improve the work of the service industry and interaction with customers, for example, by robot waiters (Pudu Robotics) or couriers (Starship Technologies);
  • address the shortage of medical staff, for example, by creating robotic nurses (Diligent Robotics) or a robotic massage therapist from our portfolio company, Aescape, whose massage hit the front pages of leading global publications in 2024.

When it comes to digital health, Ukrainians have long been unimpressed with telemedicine. But this 2025 trend is finally moving beyond the ‘doctor in a smartphone’ and shifting towards a more personalised approach to health using AI. People are interested in opportunities:

  • to live a long life – and startups like Glycan Age give them this opportunity by developing an individual programme based on a fingerprint blood test;
  • to take control of chronic diseases – offered by projects such as Liveongo, for example, through smart devices for diabetes control;
  • to eat right (and healthy) – this is what startups like our portfolio company Berry Street do, multiplying the experience and knowledge of a live nutritionist by automating recommendations with AI.

And one more thing about AI. A meme with a photo of Linda Hamilton from The Terminator and the caption ‘Sarah Connor is watching you make friends with AI’ is making the rounds on social media. All joking aside, let's be honest: there are few decisions that will be hindered by the capabilities of artificial intelligence. Therefore, 2025 is a promising year for the global transformation of enterprise software in the following industries

  • modelling and forecasting for business, for example, in logistics and supply chain (Streamline, a startup with Ukrainian roots);
  • development of generative AI platforms, for example, to automate content creation, customer interaction and design processes for businesses (Adobe Firefly) or to simplify the development of AI-based applications (Ukrainian startup Dynamiq);
  • creation of predictive analytics based on large data sets processed by machine learning models (Azure Databricks).

The growing demand for automation, which will reduce labour costs and increase efficiency in various areas; a personalised approach to healthcare, which has a positive impact on all related processes; and the use of AI to create fast and adaptive business management processes are arguments for potential investors to pay special attention to the above trends.

Just as there are arguments for those who love the language of numbers:
