SPARQ, a Ras Al Khaimah-based company developing an AI-native game engine and creator platform, has opened an $8.5 million seed funding round with early participation from Andreessen Horowitz's (a16z) Scout Fund. The company is building tools that make game development accessible to creators without requiring advanced technical skills.
Building a New Generation of Game Creation Tools
Following two years of self-funded development backed by approximately $2.5 million from its founders, SPARQ created a proprietary C++ game engine with AAA-level rendering capabilities. The platform uses AI to automate coding, asset creation, networking, publishing, and monetization, allowing creators to focus on gameplay and content.
“Artificial intelligence is transforming the economics of game development by removing many of the technical barriers that have traditionally required large studios and development teams,” said Christopher Pail, Founder and CEO of SPARQ.
Targeting the Global Creator Economy
SPARQ aims to serve a rapidly growing creator market. The company believes millions of digital creators currently lack the tools needed to build interactive gaming experiences.
The platform has already attracted significant interest, with more than 6,000 creators joining its waitlist before the funding round launched.
Expanding in the UAE
SPARQ has partnered with Innovation City Ras Al Khaimah to launch the SPARQ Creators Centre, an AI-powered hub designed to attract creators, developers, and engineers to the UAE.
Beta access is currently being distributed to early users as the company prepares for a broader rollout of its AI-powered game development platform.
