StarKid Universe, a European-founded EdTech startup headquartered in Ljubljana, Slovenia, is launching its innovative platform aimed at helping children aged 3 to 9 build emotional awareness, focus, and self-regulation through playful mindfulness techniques. StarKid Universe transforms science-backed practices into engaging visual storytelling to address the growing mental health challenges children face today.
“We’re raising a generation that can code and navigate AI but often struggles to navigate their own emotions,” says Yvonne Knap, founder and CEO of StarKid Universe. “Our mission is to make building emotional resilience fun and accessible, empowering families to raise focused, confident, and kind humans.”
StarKid Universe is an age-specific series. In each episode, animated puppet characters take children on an adventure that subtly introduces breathing exercises, body awareness, and calming strategies. Unlike traditional meditation apps, StarKid Universe is designed to be visual, interactive, and inclusive — meeting children where they are: at home, in schools, or during therapy sessions. The program supports a diverse range of learning and developmental needs, offering tools for children with ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, dyslexia, anxiety, and sleep difficulties.
The platform also provides insightful materials on a range of topics that help create a safe and supportive environment for a child — both within the family and beyond. It brings together parents and child development professionals in the StarKid Community, where everyone feels safe asking even the most daring questions, finding support and encouragement from fellow parents, and receiving professional advice from coaches.
StarKid Universe works closely with child psychologists, therapists, and educators to ensure developmental appropriateness and scientific grounding.
The impact has already been significant. More than 900 children have benefited - from a young girl with dyslexia who gained confidence in reading through relaxation, to children with autism supported at the Compleat Kidz pediatric clinic in North Carolina.
Following early success, StarKid Universe is preparing for its 2025 pre-seed fundraising round to expand its reach across Europe and globally. With content adaptable for television and streaming services, StarKid Universe aims to equip millions of children with lifelong emotional management skills.
