Key Takeaways:

  • TesterArmy raised $1.2M in pre-seed funding.
  • AI agents test web and mobile apps without test scripts.
  • Funding will support team growth and platform expansion.

TesterArmy, the platform that uses AI agents to test web and mobile applications without requiring teams to write test code, has raised $1.2 million in pre-seed funding. The round was backed by Y Combinator, AIP Seed, Eight Capital and Script Capital, alongside angel investors including Guillermo Rauch, founder of Vercel; Walden Yan, co-founder of Cognition, the company behind Devin; Charlie Cheever, CEO of Expo and co-founder of Quora; Zeno Rocha, founder of Resend; Fernando Rojo, Head of v0 at Vercel; and Fryderyk Wiatrowski, CEO of Viktor. The company will use the funding to grow its team, and to scale the platform to serve hundreds of companies.

AI coding agents now write a growing share of the code that ships. But they tend to verify the feature they were asked to build, while broader user journeys and regressions go unchecked. As release cycles accelerate, traditional testing processes struggle to keep up.

Existing testing tools were built for a different workflow. Traditional test automation relies on scripts that engineers have to write and maintain, and interface changes break them. At the other end of the market, managed platforms add sales calls, demos and weeks of onboarding before a team gets to see whether the product works.

Testing User Journeys Without Code

A TesterArmy agent opens a real browser or launches a mobile app and follows a user journey described in plain language: log in, add a product to the cart, complete the payment. It clicks, fills in forms and checks whether each step worked. It can handle logins involving email or SMS verification codes. No access to the customer’s source code is required – a URL or an installable version of the mobile app is enough, and the first test can run within minutes. Once connected to GitHub or a CI pipeline, it runs automatically on every change, checking both what was modified and the journeys that matter most.

More than 50 clients, from seed-stage startups to Series C companies, already use TesterArmy, including Resend, bolt.new, Novu, CodeCrafters, Rork and Nando’s.

From React Native to TesterArmy

TesterArmy was founded by Szymon Rybczak and Oskar Kwaśniewski, two Polish engineers who worked together at the music label MyMusic and later at Callstack, one of the largest React Native consultancies. Rybczak has been writing production code since he was 14, starting with the edtech company LiveKid, and is the youngest person ever to contribute to React Native. He was still in high school when TesterArmy was accepted into Y Combinator, and he spent the batch flying between San Francisco and Poland to sit his final school exams.

We spent years shipping mobile apps for other companies, so we know that much of testing has nothing to do with writing test scripts. It is the logins, devices and infrastructure. Teams knew what needed testing; they just did not have time to set it all up. We wanted the answer to be simple: describe what should happen, and the test runs,” says Szymon Rybczak, CEO and co-founder of TesterArmy.

Traditional automated tests follow a fixed script. Our agents work from the user’s goal. You can tell them what should happen in plain language, and they adapt as the product changes. We are on a mission to make testing effortless for high velocity engineering teams,” says Oskar Kwaśniewski, CTO and co-founder of TesterArmy.
