Cambridge, UK-based transport technology startup Alchera Technologies has raised £2.7 million in Seed funding to expand its data analytics platform for highway operators and local authorities.
The financing includes £2 million in investment led by Maven Capital Partners through the British Business Bank’s South West Investment Fund, alongside the Bayes Entrepreneurship Fund and The FSE Group. Existing investor Cambridge Applied Research also participated, while Innovate UK provided match funding through its Investor Partnerships programme.
Turning Transport Data Into Infrastructure Decisions
Led by co-founder and CEO Anna Jordan, Alchera Technologies develops software that helps transport authorities and infrastructure operators analyse road networks, forecast traffic conditions and plan infrastructure improvements.
Its platform combines information from multiple sources, including bus locations, traffic signals, vehicle movements, weather and air quality data.
Alchera Technologies processes and integrates these datasets before applying its algorithms to identify traffic patterns, detect performance issues and forecast potential outcomes. The company has also developed a patent-pending approach to traffic modelling.
Users can access the results through dashboards and application programming interfaces (APIs), reducing the manual work required to collect and analyse information from separate systems.
According to Alchera Technologies, its platform can reduce certain transport data analysis tasks from weeks to seconds, allowing operators to make decisions within the same day.
One application involves planning roadworks on the M25 motorway in the UK. The company’s technology enables operators to assess traffic conditions forecast up to 24 months ahead, helping them identify potential disruptions before scheduling road closures.
Expanding Product Development and Customer Adoption
Alchera Technologies reports that its platform is used across local, regional and national transport networks.
The company says it more than doubled its customer count over the past 12 months and expects to double it again during 2026.
The new financing will support further product development and help Alchera Technologies accelerate customer onboarding.
The company plans to expand the use of its technology among highway operators and local authorities managing road networks, infrastructure maintenance and transport planning.
