London-based healthcare technology company Semble has expanded access to its existing integration with ORB Connect, allowing private healthcare providers to retrieve consenting patients’ live NHS GP records directly within their clinical workflows. The company is offering a free trial until November 30, 2026, alongside new options for practices to manage access for individual clinicians.
The announcement follows findings from Semble’s Care Coordination Tax research, which found that 84% of UK private healthcare leaders say administrative workloads are limiting their ability to scale services. A further 92% reported that their administrative teams are already operating at or beyond capacity.
Reducing Administrative Barriers to Patient Information
Accessing patient records across different healthcare settings remains a challenge for private providers, particularly when information is held within NHS systems. According to Semble, obtaining NHS GP records through traditional processes can take weeks or months, potentially delaying clinical decisions and leaving practitioners dependent on incomplete medical histories or information recalled by patients.
The ORB Connect integration addresses this issue by providing access to live NHS GP records directly within Semble’s healthcare management platform. Rather than requesting static summaries or transferring information between separate systems, clinicians can review current patient records as part of their existing workflow, including information about previous treatments, medications and allergies.
Access is based on explicit patient consent, authenticated through NHS login. Patients can authorise clinicians to view their records and withdraw permission at any time, maintaining control over how their medical information is shared.
Following feedback from beta customers, Semble has also introduced more flexible access management. Practices can now enable the integration for selected clinicians rather than their entire clinical team, allowing organisations to introduce the functionality gradually according to operational needs.
Dr Jenny Williams, Senior Product Manager at Semble and a former GP, said:
“Having worked as a GP, I know how important it is to have the right information available when making clinical decisions. But getting hold of records from across different healthcare settings can be slow and frustrating, creating extra admin for clinicians and sometimes delaying decisions about a patient’s care.
“Bringing NHS GP records directly into Semble gives clinicians easier access to important information at the point they need it, reducing the need to chase records or depend on patients remembering the detail of their medical history. We’re offering free access to Orb Connect until the end of November so more practices can see first-hand the difference that easier access to NHS GP records can make, with the flexibility to introduce it at a pace that works for their teams.”
Expanding Access Across Private Healthcare
The integration is available to all Semble customers from October 28, 2026, with free access until November 30. From December 1, charges will automatically apply to clinicians who continue to have access enabled, allowing practices to assess the integration before moving to a paid arrangement.
Semble currently supports more than 1,700 healthcare businesses across 80 medical specialties, with its platform used by approximately 18,000 healthcare professionals. The company reports that more than 10 million patients have received care from clinicians using its technology, with customers including Nuffield Health, Welbeck, Midland Health, London Doctors Clinic, Modality and ProblemShared.
Its healthcare management platform integrates with more than 1,200 tools across diagnostics, billing, laboratories and customer relationship management. Backed by Revaia, Mercia Ventures, Partech and Octopus Ventures, Semble operates primarily in the UK private healthcare market and is expanding its presence in France.
ORB Connect, developed by two practising UK doctors, provides consent-based access to NHS GP records for healthcare organisations operating outside traditional NHS boundaries. Its technology is designed to give private hospitals, independent clinics and other providers access to current patient information without the delays associated with conventional record-sharing processes.
Through the expanded integration, Semble aims to reduce administrative work involved in accessing medical records while giving private healthcare organisations greater flexibility in how they introduce the technology into clinical operations.
