The Top Voices has announced the winners of the Tech Impact Awards Africa 2025, a free awards program recognizing individuals contributing to the development of Africa’s technology ecosystem.
The 2025 edition focused on people creating measurable impact across three categories: Community Builders & Educators, Startups & Product Development, and Thought Leadership & Public Knowledge.
Following the final evaluation by the judging panel, one winner was selected in each category.
Community Builders & Educators
- Susan Gatura, Phoenix KE Analytics
Susan Gatura built a data community that has grown to more than 10,000 members, creating a space for African data professionals to connect, learn and develop their careers.
Through Phoenix KE Analytics, she also developed a free mentorship program that has already supported more than 200 aspiring African data professionals.
Her work focuses on expanding access to practical knowledge, mentorship and professional opportunities for emerging data talent across the continent.
Startups & Product Development
- Bruno Leo-Nwoye, OmniRetail Africa
Bruno Leo-Nwoye led the product team behind OmniRetail Africa’s Distributor App, a platform designed to digitize distribution and retail operations.
The app is now used by more than 5,800 distributors and 150,000 retailers, bringing digital tools into a large network of businesses across African markets.
His work demonstrates how product development and technology can be applied to improve the infrastructure connecting distributors and retailers at scale.
Thought Leadership & Public Knowledge
- Olatunbosun Alake, Lagos State Government
Olatunbosun Alake serves as Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology in Lagos State, working at the intersection of technology, policy and ecosystem development.
His work includes the launch of Nigeria’s first sub-sovereign innovation fund, a cybersecurity council and a patent program. These initiatives have contributed to funding more than 50 startups while supporting broader digital reform across government.
His work focuses on creating public infrastructure and policy frameworks that can support innovation and technology development at scale.
Honorable Mentions from The Top Voices
Alongside the jury-selected winners, The Top Voices recognized three additional individuals whose work stood out during the evaluation process.
The Honorable Mentions are recognitions from The Top Voices and are separate from the jury-selected winners in each category.
- Community Builders & Educators — Betty Mukami, Digital Education Africa Network (DEAN)
Betty Mukami has helped train more than 1,500 teachers and reached over 5,000 students through programs focused on digital skills, robotics and coding.
Through Digital Education Africa Network in Kenya, her work focuses on addressing gaps in digital education and giving teachers and students access to practical technology skills.
- Startups & Product Development — Amandipp Singh, Enabled Talent
Amandipp Singh is building Enabled Talent, an inclusive hiring platform designed to connect people with disabilities with employment opportunities.
The platform uses accessible, AI-driven tools, including voice-first applications and neurodivergent-friendly design. Enabled Talent has already supported more than 3,000 jobseekers and is expanding into underserved regions across Africa.
- Thought Leadership & Public Knowledge — Jacqueline Asare-Dartey
Jacqueline Asare-Dartey is a product designer, educator and mentor working to make product design education and mentorship more accessible.
She has worked with more than 300 aspiring designers through mentorship, hands-on programs and educational content, while also helping startups move from early ideas toward pitch-ready products.
About the Tech Impact Awards Africa 2025
The Tech Impact Awards Africa 2025 were created to recognize individuals making a tangible contribution to Africa’s technology ecosystem, from building products and companies to developing communities, sharing knowledge and expanding access to technology education.
Finalists were reviewed by a judging panel bringing experience across venture capital, technology, product development, data, entrepreneurship, community building and innovation.
The 2025 jury included Elizabeth Boluwatife Rotimi (Techies on LinkedIn), Keshni Morar (Investable), Jonathan Ruwanika (Future Africa), Yulia Gushchina (Filmustage), Eunice Allela (Google via Algomarketing), Elena Budnik (Denum), Dr. Daniel Adaramola (The Young CISO Network), Stanislav Petrov (Capital.com), Baratang Miya (United Nations), Willy Nsabiyumva (African Management Institute), Kateryna Ogar (Cisco Systems), Uzoma Onyebueke (The Amplify Mentorship), Alex Mativo (Duck), and Ted Chalouhi (DUKU AI).
The Awards were supported by four community and ecosystem partners: She Code Africa, ECO Africa, Tech 4 Good Africa, and Girls into Tech.
The Top Voices thanks every judge for the time, experience and independent perspective they brought to the evaluation, as well as the partners who supported the Awards and everyone who applied.
