OKAPI:Orbits raises €13M in seed funding to enhance its position as the leading European Space Traffic Management (STM) solutions provider, based in Braunschweig, Germany. The financing round was led by Ventech, a pan-European early-stage venture capital firm with strong roots in Germany, with significant support from Matterwave Ventures, a European industrial deep tech investor, and existing investors such as the Amadeus APEX Technology Fund.
In addition to venture capital firms, the financing round attracted investments from prominent individual investors such as Christian Miele, former chairman of the German Start-up Association. Funds from this round will be directed toward advancing technical capabilities, expanding the team, and scaling the international footprint.
OKAPI:Orbits delivers end-to-end Space Traffic Management solutions supporting space missions from the initial planning phase through to end-of-life. AI-driven STM platforms developed by OKAPI:Orbits leverage advanced data fusion technologies to predict, detect, and manage risks and movements in space, address frequency interference, and mitigate environmental impacts. These solutions not only enhance operational efficiency for satellite operators but also provide full simulation capabilities and tools to ensure compliance with international standards and regulations.
"Our goal is to create lasting value for our customers while ensuring the long-term viability of our orbital environment. This round allows us to further solidify our leading role in the space industry. Based out of Europe and backed by worldwide best talent we are in the unique position to build resilient and independent Space Domain Awareness capabilities for commercial and institutional customers internationally," commented Kristina Nikolaus, CEO of OKAPI:Orbits.
Europe’s emphasis on space sustainability through regulatory initiatives such as the EU Space Act, coupled with the European Space Agency’s Strategy 2040 launched in March, outlines an ambitious roadmap prioritizing innovation, sustainability, and autonomous access to space. Demand for innovative infrastructure and services across the European space sector is growing rapidly — a demand OKAPI:Orbits is uniquely positioned to meet.
