Valencia, Spain-based energy technology startup Linkener has raised €7.5 million in funding to accelerate the development of its energy management platform and expand through acquisitions. The investment was led by Klima Energy Transition Fund, managed by Alantra, with participation from existing investor GoHub Ventures. The company plans to use the capital to develop proprietary AI models, strengthen its energy management technology and integrate complementary products and businesses into its platform.
Developing AI-Powered Energy Management Technology
Linkener develops an Intelligent Energy Management System (SIGE) that combines proprietary remote metering technology with energy data analytics to help businesses monitor consumption, identify inefficiencies and reduce operating costs. The platform collects energy data independently, allowing customers to track usage, digitise and validate electricity bills, analyse supply contracts and receive automated alerts and recommendations. Alongside its software platform, Linkener provides engineering services to support the implementation of energy efficiency measures, including solar power and battery storage installations.
The company currently serves more than 2,000 customers, from small businesses to large organisations, and monitors approximately 10,000 energy supply points. Its platform manages 1.7 TWh of energy annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of a city with around 400,000 residents. Linkener has also completed more than 400 photovoltaic and energy storage projects across Spain, combining energy monitoring and analysis with the implementation of infrastructure designed to improve efficiency.
Funding to Support AI Development and Acquisitions
The €7.5 million investment will support Linkener’s plans to expand its platform through proprietary AI models and advanced data analytics. The company is developing technology to automate invoice processing, identify anomalies in energy consumption and detect opportunities to optimise energy costs. These capabilities are intended to help customers manage increasingly complex energy requirements while reducing the manual work involved in monitoring consumption and analysing contracts.
Alongside product development, Linkener plans to pursue acquisitions of complementary businesses and technologies to broaden its services. The strategy combines organic growth with acquisitions, allowing the company to integrate additional energy management capabilities into its existing platform. GoHub Ventures, which first invested in Linkener in 2019, continues to support the company alongside new lead investor Klima Energy Transition Fund.
With the additional capital, Linkener aims to expand its technology offering and strengthen its presence in Spain’s energy management market, bringing together energy monitoring, cost optimisation and efficiency projects within a single platform.
