BTRY AG, a Swiss battery innovator, raised USD 5.7 million in an oversubscribed seed round led by Redstone VC, with participation from Bloomhaus Ventures, Linear Capital, Kickfund, Kick Foundation, and CustomCells founders Leopold König and Torge Thönnessen. Returning investors HTGF and Zürcher Kantonalbank reinforced support for the company’s solid-state technology and market potential.
The investment will accelerate the industrialization of BTRY’s ultra-thin solid-state batteries — energy storage solutions combining one-minute charging, high-temperature resilience, and safety in a compact format. The technology powers new-generation connected labels, sensors, and wearables where conventional cells are unsuitable.
Dr. Moritz Futscher, CEO and Co-Founder of BTRY AG, stated, “The oversubscribed round confirms strong investor confidence from experienced deep-tech and industrial backers. Working closely with this international consortium will enable us to transform world-class research into a scalable product.”
BTRY applies semiconductor-grade solid-state methods to battery production, achieving ultra-thin, safe, and durable batteries that outperform traditional lithium-ion cells. Mohamed Foulser, Investment Director at Redstone VC, noted, “Potential customers are ready with their next-generation solutions, like active badges in logistics. What they need is a small, powerful, and safe battery – exactly what BTRY offers.”
BTRY’s cells function safely at temperatures up to 150°C and charge within one minute, delivering stable performance without liquid electrolytes. Pascal Stürchler, CEO at Bloomhaus Ventures, emphasized, “BTRY is a perfect example of Swiss deep-tech at its best – science-driven, bold, and globally relevant.”
The company focuses on miniaturized and sustainable energy storage for high-value applications such as IoT, MedTech, and smart industrial systems. Its solvent-free, low-waste production aligns with environmental and efficiency goals.
Tianyi Zhou, Principal at Linear Capital, added, “Asia has been leading the way in battery manufacturing for decades, but innovations like BTRY’s show that Europe can compete through advanced materials and precision processes.”
Backed by a global network of investors, BTRY advances scalable, high-performance energy storage from Switzerland — marking a new milestone in the evolution of solid-state battery technology.
