Nature Robots, a German agri-robotics software company and spin-off from the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), secured €4 million in seed funding from Climentum Capital, Bayern Kapital and Planetary Impact Ventures. The investment will support scaling of modular autonomy software for agricultural machinery, team expansion and a new Munich office.
AI Autonomy for Agricultural Machinery
Nature Robots develops modular software enabling agricultural machines to operate autonomously across large fields, specialty crops, viticulture and agroforestry environments. The platform allows equipment manufacturers to integrate autonomy functions without building proprietary systems. High-precision navigation and monitoring capabilities support applications such as laser weeding and spot farming, reducing pesticide use and improving sustainability.
Sustainable Farming and Market Impact
Technology addresses labour shortages, soil degradation and rising emissions in agriculture. Autonomous systems enable lighter machinery, optimized mission planning and reduced chemical inputs. The solution supports scalable transformation toward regenerative and efficient farming models.
“Agriculture faces a ‘triple threat’: We must feed nearly 10 billion people by 2050, while the average age of farmers is already 58. At the same time, traditional agricultural systems account for over 30% of global emissions, and 40% of our soil is already degraded. Our autonomy platform enables machinery manufacturers to embark on the necessary transformation very quickly without having to invest billions in in-house development. With this seed round, we can systematically tap into the core markets.” - Dr. Sebastian Pütz, CEO and Co-Founder, Nature Robots
