Source.ag, an Amsterdam-based developer of artificial intelligence software for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), announced the successful completion of a $17.5 million Series B funding round. The round was led by Astanor, with participation from Enza Zaden, a global seed breeder, and Harvest House, one of Europe’s largest grower cooperatives. This latest investment brings total funding to over $60 million since the company’s founding in 2020.

The funding round follows a phase of accelerated growth driven by large-scale deployments of Source.ag’s AI platform across Europe and North America. The investment highlights the growing need for practical AI solutions in agriculture, a sector challenged by increasing global food demand and a shortage of experienced growers.

While much of the AI industry focuses on theoretical applications, Source.ag develops practical, production-level AI tools for greenhouse operators. The company’s technology currently supports over 300 greenhouses covering 2,500 hectares in 18 countries, contributing to the daily production of tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers for approximately 40 million consumers.

CEA is recognized as one of the most efficient methods for addressing global land and water constraints but remains limited by human expertise. Source.ag’s system centralizes agricultural data and digitizes expert knowledge, functioning as an “AI co-pilot” for growers. The software allows for accurate yield forecasting, automated irrigation management, and data-driven optimization across the supply chain — improving productivity, product quality, and sustainability.

Rien Kamman, CEO and Co-founder of Source.ag, said: “This Series B round confirms the industry's belief in our vision: food chain innovation requires AI companies to partner closely with the industry. The grower is the core player, the one putting healthy food on supermarket shelves, and we build the solutions they need to excel. Our ambition is to sustainably feed everyone with sufficient fruits and vegetables. This investment confirms the market views us as the definitive AI partner leading the sector into the future.

The new funding will accelerate product development and international scaling, strengthening Source.ag’s position as a global leader in agricultural AI. Strategic partnerships with Enza Zaden and Harvest House demonstrate the platform’s integration across the full horticultural value chain — from seed development to large-scale production.
