Backed by Sisu Game Ventures, Wave Ventures, and First Fellow Partners, the Helsinki startup is launching its AI game builder worldwide while taking the technology to game studios in the US.
Nimble Fox lets developers build and modify Unity games by prompting directly inside the game engine. The product will become publicly available on 7 September 2026, when the company opens paid subscriptions and moves from product development into commercial growth.
From side project to funded startup
Nimble Fox began as a side project after founder and CEO Jonne Myöhänen became frustrated with how long it could take to turn a game idea into something playable.
The project became a startup after Myöhänen won Aalto Entrepreneurship Society’s Ignite accelerator program in autumn 2025. Nimble Fox subsequently raised a funding round, expanded into a six-person full-time team in Helsinki and received an R&D grant from Business Finland to support further product development.
“I had a lot of ideas for games, but I didn’t want to spend months just prototyping them,” said Myöhänen. “I started building Nimble Fox as a faster creative outlet for game development.”
Focusing AI on real game development bottlenecks
Rather than trying to automate every part of making a game, Nimble Fox is focused on reducing specific technical and repetitive tasks that slow developers down.
Built directly into the Unity editor, the tool can understand the context of an existing project and make changes through natural-language prompts. Developers can work with their own code, art, and game assets while using Nimble Fox to implement, place and modify content inside the project.
The company is developing the product around the problems developers and studios encounter in practice, identifying workflows that take disproportionate amounts of time and exploring where AI can reduce manual work without taking creative control away from the developer.
“We see a much bigger opportunity than AI simply generating code,” Myöhänen said. “The useful part is bringing AI into the environment where developers are already working and using it to solve the parts of development that actually slow them down.”
Moving from development to commercial launch
As Nimble Fox prepares for its public launch, the company is pursuing both independent developers and larger game studios.
Myöhänen is currently in San Francisco through the Silta Program, meeting game studios and introducing Nimble Fox to the US market. The company is exploring tailored applications for larger existing games, where recurring content, smaller features and regular updates can consume significant development resources. Nimble Fox can take a feature request and implement a working first version directly in the studio’s Unity project, giving developers more time to focus on gameplay, polish, and design.
For individual developers, Nimble Fox will become publicly available worldwide on 7 September 2026, with paid subscriptions opening as part of the launch. The company plans to develop the product further based on customer needs, feedback, and the workflows where the technology creates the most value.
Ahead of the release, Nimble Fox is hosting Nimble Game Jam on 4 – 6 September, a 48-hour hybrid event in Helsinki and online. Participants will receive free access to Nimble Fox during the jam and build games over one weekend. The jury includes Samuli Syvähuoko, Jonne Taivassalo, and Ignacio Amaya.
