Alta Ares, a defense technology company specializing in air defense and edge AI systems, has raised €50 million in funding led by Air Street Capital, with participation from Cherry Ventures, OTB Ventures, and Harpoon Ventures. The investment follows rapid commercial growth, including multi-million-euro contracts and deployments across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Developing Next-Generation Air Defense
Founded in 2024 and shaped by lessons from the conflict in Ukraine, Alta Ares develops AI-powered air defense systems designed to detect, identify, and intercept modern aerial threats. The company currently offers two interceptor platforms: X-Lock for drone threats and Black Bird for cruise missiles and glide bombs.
“We are thrilled to secure the backing of renowned European tech investors and deeply appreciate the renewed trust of our existing partners as we enter this next phase of growth. Modern warfare is defined by speed, mass, and, above all, the capacity for continuous adaptation. Alta Ares was born from this operational reality directly on the battlefield. Our goal is not just to build technology, but to deliver a comprehensive air defense capability. This round provides us with the resources to accelerate our industrialization, product development, and international expansion,” said Hadrien Canter, CEO and co-founder of Alta Ares.
Scaling Production and International Growth
The company is currently deployed in three active conflict zones and was recognized with a NATO innovation award in 2025. The new funding will support product development, team expansion, increased production capacity in France and Ukraine, and new offices in the Middle East and Asia.
“Alta Ares embodies a new generation of European defense players: companies capable of rapidly developing sovereign, combat-proven systems that integrate cutting-edge AI technologies,” said Nathan Benaich, Founder of Air Street Capital.
