Bahn Express, an automotive logistics platform specializing in car transport, announced the completion of a €5M funding round led by Swedish fund node.vc, with participation from Trind VC, Innovestor, and angel investors including Vincent Ho-Tin-Noe of Wolt and the founders of Swappie and Smartly. The funds will support expansion into Germany, Denmark, and Poland, and significant hiring at the Helsinki HQ to enhance services.
Bahn Express connects car dealerships, rental agencies, and leasing companies with a network of hundreds of local freelance drivers, reducing transport times from the typical 10–30 days to just 2–5 days. The platform also manages quality inspections and real-time tracking, enabling faster turnover, lower financial risk, and a 30% improvement in dealership stock management.
“The automotive industry is one of the most high-tech and archaic industries at the same time. While innovation in manufacturing is booming, the processes for getting cars to customers haven’t changed much in decades, with cars still being shipped across Europe on trucks. With this investment round, we can rapidly scale our innovative solution to European markets, where we know the demand for more seamless processes is high,” says Matias Blomberg, Co-Founder and CEO of Bahn Express.
With an international-first approach, Bahn Express supports import and export operations in addition to local transport. The platform has already been adopted by major automotive players such as Kamux, Autohuset Vestergaard, and Aampere. “Bahn Express has really boosted our logistics operations. Their transport speed is in a league of its own, and the seamless integration into our existing systems means our teams can use Bahn Express without changing how they work. It’s rare to find a partner that combines this level of speed with such a smooth day-to-day experience,” says Niko Schmidt, CGO & Co-Founder at Aampere.
Local market adaptation is central to Bahn Express’s expansion strategy, offering rental- and leasing-focused services in Poland and Germany, and importing new and used vehicles for dealerships in Denmark and Finland. “Anyone expanding to new markets will get burned if they try to copy/paste their approach in one market to the next. That’s why we have hired local experts in each country, and these new funds will be used to expand those into fully operational local units that know their market and can tailor services to the needs of their customers,” Blomberg adds.
Founded in 2024 in Helsinki by Matias Blomberg and Leevi Jäkälä, Bahn Express now employs 30 people with offices in Helsinki, Copenhagen, and Berlin, aiming to give customers access to any car, anywhere, within two days.
