Lightbringer, a Swedish legal technology startup using AI to simplify patent protection for startups and SMEs, has raised $10 million in funding. The round was co-led by 6 Degrees Capital and Newion, with participation from existing investors Luminar Ventures and Alliance VC.
Expansion Into the U.S.
The company plans to use the investment to accelerate expansion into the U.S. market and further develop its AI-powered patent platform. In Q2 2026, Lightbringer reported 300% year-over-year revenue growth driven by increasing adoption across Europe.
Replacing Traditional Patent Processes
Founded in 2023, Lightbringer combines agentic AI with expert patent lawyer oversight to automate patent strategy, filing, and portfolio management. The platform reduces patent application timelines from months to days while lowering costs through a subscription-based model.
Unlike many legal AI solutions designed to support law firms, Lightbringer aims to replace large parts of the traditional patent filing process through automation.
Supporting Deep Tech Companies
Since launching in 2024, the company has helped more than 200 deep tech businesses across 17 countries manage and protect intellectual property. Customers include companies operating in quantum technologies, defense, infrastructure, and clean technology sectors.
Addressing a Growing Market
The global intellectual property legal services market is estimated at €14.8 billion, yet many technology companies continue to face challenges protecting innovations due to high costs, lengthy processes, and a shortage of specialized patent experts.
Lightbringer's platform is designed to bridge that gap by rapidly developing expertise in complex technical fields and helping companies secure intellectual property more efficiently.
