Lupa, an AI-powered Operating System (OS) built for veterinary clinics, has closed a $20 million Series A round to scale its suite of AI agents, accelerate global expansion, and launch the world’s first Veterinary AI Lab. The funding was led by European VC firm Singular, with participation from existing investor First Minute Capital and angel investor Michael Callahan. This round brings total capital raised to $25 million, coming only five months after the Seed investment, following a 50x increase in revenue.
The global petcare market, valued at over $350 billion, continues to grow rapidly but remains technologically underserved. Even major veterinary groups still rely on outdated systems from the 1990s, limiting both operational and clinical performance.
Founded in 2023 by Nicolò Frisiani and Matei Bjola (both formerly at BCG), together with Raul Lozano Martin (formerly at Meta), Lupa was created to modernize veterinary operations. The concept originated during a project for a global veterinary group, where the founders discovered that legacy systems were restricting efficiency and performance. Instead of continuing as external consultants, the team chose to develop a new operating system tailored for the industry.
Lupa now replaces more than seven fragmented point solutions — covering practice management, mobile applications, inpatient tools, and AIScribe functions — with a unified, enterprise-grade platform designed natively for AI. This ecosystem-driven architecture enables clinics to achieve double the ROI compared to those using disconnected software solutions. A strong focus on customer success ensures every clinic maximizes the value of the platform.
Beyond transforming clinical workflows, Lupa enhances the pet owner experience. A single mobile app enables booking appointments, secure communication with veterinarians, seamless payments, and access to a live digital pet-health passport storing records, vaccinations, and reminders. The platform also includes an AI-powered receptionist that answers calls, schedules visits instantly, and ensures no care requests go unanswered. Through this dual-sided approach, Lupa bridges the gap between veterinarians and pet owners, creating the first integrated ecosystem for petcare.
Lupa has secured multi-year partnerships with leading veterinary groups throughout the UK and Europe. The AI-native system is now being rolled out across hundreds of clinics, offering significant performance improvements:
- 50x revenue growth since the Seed round
- 60 minutes saved per veterinarian per day during the first week of use
- 2x ROI compared to clinics using legacy solutions
- Onboarding time reduced to less than one day, versus the typical two-week industry standard
Lupa is establishing a dedicated Veterinary AI Lab to advance the development of safe, clinically reliable AI solutions for veterinary care. The lab will be led by Mr. Guler (formerly at C3.ai), with a team including engineers from DeepMind, Meta AI, and Palantir.
The facility will operate as both a research and product innovation center, focusing on building AI agents that support every stage of veterinary care — from reception to diagnosis. It will also publish peer-reviewed research, collaborate with academic institutions and regulatory bodies, and contribute to setting global standards for ethical AI in petcare.
“Our vision is to build the world’s petcare platform. And it is resonating: with clients, investors, and above all, talent. If there is a team that can achieve this bold vision, it is ours,” said Nicolò Frisiani, Co-Founder & CEO of Lupa.
