Pandektes has secured a €2.9 million seed investment round led by People Ventures and Interface Capital, marking a significant milestone in advancing AI-driven legal research. By breaking jurisdictional barriers, comprehensive legal data is now more accessible to lawyers across the EU. Over two years, an AI-powered assistant has transformed how legal professionals identify case law and statutes, offering a streamlined alternative to traditional, fragmented research methods. Widely adopted by leading Danish law firms, in-house legal departments, and public authorities, this innovative approach continues to prove its effectiveness.

“This investment enables us to scale our platform and advance our mission to revolutionize legal research and knowledge-sharing, not just in Denmark but across Europe,” says CEO Casper Laursen. “We are incredibly grateful for the trust our investors have placed in us and are excited to push forward with our strategic and technological goals.”

Investors recognize the immense potential in a product addressing a long-standing challenge within a traditionally conservative industry. The seed round, led by People Ventures — a Danish venture fund founded by the Zibrandtsen family — and Berlin-based Interface Capital, reflects confidence in the technology’s disruptive capabilities. “Pandektes has created a product that addresses a real and pressing challenge in a traditionally conservative industry. Their ability to combine cutting-edge AI with a strong emphasis on data quality makes them a unique player in the market,” says Magnus Stagsted, CFO at People Ventures.

Cross-jurisdictional legal research remains a key differentiator, simplifying the discovery of case law beyond domestic boundaries. Despite a shared EU legal framework, accessing relevant cases from other jurisdictions has historically been a complex process. AI-driven capabilities now eliminate these inefficiencies, positioning this platform as a formidable competitor to legacy research providers that have yet to adopt a globalized approach.

With fresh funding, improvements will focus on precision and reliability rather than an overload of new features. “In legal AI, it all comes down to the quality of the source data,” says Co-founder Søren Brokær. “We’re not just delivering quick results — we’re ensuring our customers receive answers they can trust and apply directly into their work.” Optimizing AI models and enhancing accuracy remain top priorities, ensuring that legal professionals gain access to dependable insights while also facilitating international expansion across multiple EU jurisdictions.

Founded in October 2022, this venture entered a market dominated by longstanding incumbents, defying early skepticism. By maintaining a learning-oriented approach and collaborating closely with legal professionals, the company identified and addressed critical inefficiencies in legal research. Previous angel investments, including a DKK 6 million funding round, helped build momentum, securing over 100 clients across multiple countries. Support from industry-leading investors, including those with experience in Aiia, Peakon, Penneo, Blinkist, Pitch, and Onomondo, reinforces a strong market position. With AI adoption gaining traction in the legal industry, this technology-driven solution is shaping the future of legal research across Europe.
