Plain has successfully raised $15 million in Series A funding, led by Battery Ventures, with continued participation from Index Ventures and Connect Ventures, to build the leading support platform for B2B businesses.

The B2B customer support landscape is undergoing a significant transformation. AI is freeing customer-facing teams from manual tasks, while companies are shifting from reactive and siloed support models to proactive, collaborative partnerships with customers. Communication is evolving from transactional email and chat to real-time, collaborative channels like Slack, Discord, and Microsoft Teams. Additionally, the integration of support, success, and engineering teams is increasing, with Gartner forecasting that 30% of Fortune 500 companies will consolidate post-sales functions into a single role by 2027.

This evolution is giving rise to a new software category that blends AI-powered support with the collaborative nature of customer success platforms. This category, referred to as “customer collaboration,” is where Plain is positioning itself as the definitive platform.

Plain enables businesses to engage with customers across high-touch channels like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Discord, consolidating conversations from multiple sources into one platform. The solution promotes collaborative support, allowing teams from support, engineering, and customer success to seamlessly work together. AI capabilities within Plain automate repetitive tasks, draft responses, and help teams learn faster from customer interactions. Customers have praised Plain for its intuitive design, with one remarking, “Plain feels like the future.”

With the new funding, Plain plans to enhance its product by expanding AI capabilities and making the platform more valuable for teams beyond customer support, including engineering and product teams. The company will also grow its team across sales, marketing, design, and engineering functions, and open a new office in San Francisco to strengthen its presence and collaboration with US-based customers. Plain is excited about the opportunity to partner with Battery Ventures and welcomes Neeraj Agrawal to the board as the business continues to grow. Gratitude is extended to customers, backers, and mentors for their ongoing support in building Plain.
