Swave Photonics, a pioneer in true holographic display innovation, has secured an additional €6 million in follow-on funding to its Series A round. The investment was led by IAG Capital Partners and joined by Samsung Ventures.
The company is building a revolutionary holographic display platform designed for the Spatial + AI Computing era. Utilizing Holographic eXtended Reality (HXR) technology, the system integrates diffractive photonics with CMOS chip-based infrastructure to produce the smallest known pixel. This breakthrough enables precise light shaping to generate vivid, high-fidelity 3D images. By removing the need for waveguides, the technology paves the way for 3D visualization and interaction across a range of display formats and devices, promising to redefine spatial computing applications.
“This follow-on investment demonstrates that there is tremendous excitement for the emerging Spatial + AI Computing era, and the display technology that will help unlock what comes next,” said Mike Noonen, Swave CEO. “These funds from our existing investor IAG Capital Partners and new investor Samsung Ventures will help Swave accelerate the commercialization and application of our novel holographic display technology at the heart of next-generation spatial computing platforms.”
The company initially announced a €27 million ($28.27 million) Series A round in January 2025, following a €10 million ($10.47 million) Seed round in 2023. The new funding will advance development of the HXR platform and strengthen commercialization and market expansion strategies.
Recognition for the technology includes a CES 2025 Innovation Award and a semi-finalist placement in the Electro Optic’s Photonics Frontiers Award competition.
