Meta's pay or consent model is under scrutiny for potentially violating EU tech regulations. EU antitrust regulators charged Meta for breaching tech rules with its new pay-or-consent advertising model.

Introduced last November for Facebook and Instagram in Europe, the model lets users choose between a free, ad-supported service if they consent to tracking, or paying for an ad-free experience. The European Commission, enforcing the Digital Markets Act (DMA), contends this dual-choice approach violates regulations and has sent its findings to Meta.
